The Icelandic Gaming Industry Awards 2010 (IGIA10)
IGIA10 was officially launched on the
7th IGI meet-up, Thursday November 5th 2009 with
great success, which formed the official start date of the
competition running up to the actual awards ceremony, to be held in
April 2010. The
first
monthly IGIA10 workshop takes place Saturday November 7th
2009. If you have ever wanted to create your own computer game,
have a good idea for a game, or just want to learn a bit more about
how computer games are made, IGIA10 is definitely for you.
The process
The process includes
free monthly workshops by industry
experts on various parts of the game design/creation process,
intended to teach you a bit about how we do things and at the same
time lead you along the path of working on your own game idea. The
competition is
open for anyone, absolutely anyone, to take
part and is in every way
FREE. If you don't know the first
thing about making games, then this is the perfect opportunity for
you to learn about it and apply those skills towards your entry in
the competition.

A great opportunity
This is also a great opportunity to showcase your skills and
participants are encouraged to form groups, so that a greater mix
of skills can work together towards an even better end result. That
way you might also learn more about working together in
interdisciplinery projects and pick up something interesting from
your group members.
You can win !
In addition to all this, the winning entry will receive a
fantastic HP Touchsmart IQ522sc multimedia computer and
touchscreen, generously donated by Opin Kerfi (www.ok.is) and will get accepted into the first
term of Vidskiptasmidjan* and get that fall term of 2010 for
free as well as of course some support from IGI. All of this should
greatly increase your odds of being able to create a great game,
which could result in your very own brand new startup or
alternatively an impressive portfolio piece when applying for work
in the industry. Oh, and a great chance to meet all of us of course
;)
